…but I’d rather not find this guy in my house, I don’t think I’ve got a newspaper big enough to defend myself. It’s got a legspan of 14 cm (5.5 inches) and apparently the biggest of its type in the Middle East. It eats insects. And lizards. Quite the spider if you can put an animal as big as a lizard on your menu.
As a recently discovered species, the spider is already under immediate threat since the Israeli government will be starting mining operations in the region, which could possibly lead to a new name on the ‘extinct species thanks to mankind’-list. Well, at least they’re not building a big wall around its entire population or a fence.
Picked up this little gem, Manchild #4 at the Reflections distro. They always have great stuff in their distro, it rarely happens I don’t buy anything at their distro.
The comic book is done by Brian Walsby, who apparently also does merch for the Melvins. It deals with playing in bands, quitting bands and whatnot. Pretty cool stuff, sometimes kinda hard to read however.
The included CD holds two Melvins live sets, one set in the late 80’s at Gilman St. and the second set is from 2008.

Take a look at this little video. While watching, keep in mind that all the footage is computer generated, every last bit of it. This is practically photorealistic stuff.
For example, in the form of this tiny gadget that will help you to read books with one hand. I read about it on Dreamtigers, she posts more than me so you should check out her blog too.
- A guy pushing forty, waxing up the little hair he has left, wearing a t-shirt that says ‘Playboy’. That was the saddest thing I saw this morning.
- The thing I hate most about commuting are other people stinking up your morning. I want my morning to smell like rosewater and daffodils, not your coffee breath and last night’s sweat.
- Even when it’s snowing, I can still walk pretty fast. I’ve got to thank my mom for that, I became fast by trying to keep up with her when I was little. If she’s wearing heels, it’s like a walking drumroll.
- Terribly entertaining book, Frankie Boyle’s ‘My Shit Life So Far’
- The opening riff of Physical Graffiti, it helps you get up in the morning.
‘The Western drive to consume is the primary driver of international organised crime’
‘Take Mexico for example. 6000 people killed there, in the last 18 months, as a direct consequence of the cocaine trade’
‘Since 1998, 5 million people have died there…mafia’s from all around the people co-operate with local paramilitaries in order to seize the supplies of the rich mineral resources of the region’ (about Congo)
All this and more, 20 minutes of your spare time. Interesting and worrying at the same time.
These are all the thing I want to tell you about. But I don’t have the time right now. So I’ll keep it short.

Apparently a record store full of great music in LA. Another reason to visit the West Coast. It’s looks like a Walhalla. They have this cool series on YouTube where different artists show what music they’re buying. Great idea, and always interesting to find out what your favourite artists are into. Check one here:

A store somebody told me about at Ieperfest where you can order stuff from the UK (like Amazon) but without postage. I ordered two books last Tuesday, the first one arrived this morning. Fast, quick and easy. I recommend it.
It’s Bill Bryson’s A History Of Nearly Everything. I’ll put it on the stack ‘to read’, a stack that is growing faster than I’m reading. I really want to read more. The problem is, I want everything more.
Ieperfest and Pukkelpop will be for the next time I make time to update this blog.
Do check out my tweets and shared items on the right side, I’m much more active on both Twitter and Google Reader than I will ever be on this blog.
Listening to Neil Young’s After The Goldrush right now. Swell record.
Okay, so HP was good. Thinking of the book and the movie as two separate things, the movie was pretty cool. The teenage love affairs weren’t too omnipresent, the duality between ‘girls & boys’ and ‘you know, Voldemort wants us all dead’ was done pretty good and the film covers enough of the book to tell a coherent story.
However, it was a pity that they added one additional scene and they cut some stuff out of it at the end.
